LCU Fund Partner Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing Receives National Recognition

Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing (PBISN) - a grantee partner of the LCU Fund, is delighted to announce that it has been designated a Center of Excellence (COE) in Nursing Education by the National League of Nursing (NLN) for the years 2014 to 2018. PBISN was one of six schools of nursing in 2014 to earn this prestigious distinction. The school received the designation in the “Student Learning and Professional Development” category. Recognition by the NLN as COE in Nursing Education distinguishes those schools that demonstrate sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, student learning, professional development and continuous quality improvement. Since the program’s inauguration in 2004, only 35 nursing schools nationwide have attained Center of Excellence designation. Throughout the four years that the school carries the COE designation, faculty and administration will serve as advisors and sounding boards to others that seek COE status. Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, Chief Executive Officer of the NLN noted that “We [the NLN] consider these institutions to be standard bearers of excellence—role models whose faculty, deans, and researchers are available to share knowledge and experience that lifts the entire nursing community.”
