LCU Fund Seeks Research Consultant

The LCU Fund Board of Directors is actively engaged in a strategic planning process and has articulated a need and desire for more data and information. As such, the LCU Fund is seeking a part-time, temporary Research Consultant to perform the following:

  • Design and conduct surveys of current students and alumni with questions and data points informed by the work of the LCU Fund Board of Directors;
  • Analyze survey data to include basic charts/tables for key data points and a written summary of findings;
  • Collect and compile relevant and reliable data related to community colleges.

The opportunity is open to current or former funded students only with an emphasis on those in the social sciences or related field.

Specific data points will include, but are not limited to:

  • Needs and wants of currently funded students and alumni;
  • Impediments to graduation faced by current students and alumni;
  • Location of community colleges in New York City;
  • Funding structures of community colleges;
  • Programs, curriculum and degrees offered by community colleges;
  • Demographics of community college students (specific to female students);
  • Impediments to degree completion for these students.


  • Current or former recipient of an LCU Fund housing grant; preference for those in the social sciences or related field.
  • Experience in constructing, and administering surveys (specifically - formulation of questions, response formatting, question placement and sequencing);
  • Proficiency with Survey Monkey, or other comparable online survey tool;
  • Cleaning, organizing, describing and analyzing survey data;
  • Performing online literature surveys;
  • Possessing strong analytic and research skills
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Please note that work is performed remotely and requires use of your own computer to complete projects and tasks.

Contract Terms

The contract runs from May through October 2018. The LCU Fund will pay the consultant $2,500 in total with $1,250 upon execution of a service contract and the remaining $1,250 upon completion of the project.
